Social Prescribing Networks & Groups in Ireland

A publication of the Irish Social Prescribing Peer Network.

This document outlines the groups and networks involved in Social Prescribing in Ireland.


Social Prescribing connects individuals to community resources, improving their well-being and health. Link Workers offer one-on-one sessions, providing compassionate support to connect people with practical and emotional support from groups, organisations, and services. Irish Social Prescribing Peer Network (ISPPN)
  • The Irish Social Prescribing Peer Network is a group of Link Workers whose purpose is to be a supportive space for Social Prescribers. 

  • Key activities include; facilitating a mailing list of Social Prescribing Link Workers, running a Facebook discussion group and hosting regular online networking and discussion sessions. 

  • It is coordinated by the Peer Planning group. Representatives from ISPPN sit on the HSE Advisory Group, the All Ireland Social Prescribing Network and the HSE Social Prescribing ECHO Network. 

HSE Social Prescribing Advisory Group
  • The HSE Social Prescribing Advisory Group is a multi-disciplinary group whose role is to provide advice and guidance to support the evaluation and effective implementation and integration of Social Prescribing within the HSE, in partnership with the community and voluntary sector, in line with the HSE Social Prescribing Framework. 

  • The goals of the group are to provide advice and guidance to support the effective implementation and integration of Social Prescribing within the HSE, in partnership with the community and voluntary sector and in line with the HSE Social Prescribing Framework.


All Ireland Social Prescribing Network (AISPN) 

HSE Social Prescribing ECHO
  • The HSE Social Prescribing ECHO (Extension of Community Healthcare Outcomes) is an online, monthly, case-study based learning platform for those interested in Social Prescribing in Ireland. 
